08/18/2026Groupe CAT in Shanghai: Building the Future of Smart Automotive Logistics

At the Automotive Logistics International Conference 2026, Groupe CAT presented its vision for a more agile, connected and efficient automotive supply chain.
The global automotive market is more complex than ever. Volatile demand, shifting supply chains, evolving OEM expectations and the transformation of transport modes are pushing the industry to become more agile while keeping operations secure. Against this backdrop, Groupe CAT took part in the Automotive Logistics International Conference 2026, held in Shanghai from 15 to 17 April.
The event gathered more than 700 delegates and over 300 companies to discuss the trends shaping the future of global automotive logistics, and offered Groupe CAT a platform to showcase its expertise, connect with industry leaders, and share its approach to smart logistics.
Shanghai: A Strategic Hub for Automotive Logistics
The Automotive Logistics International Conference is one of the sector’s key gatherings, bringing together vehicle manufacturers, equipment suppliers, logistics providers and transport specialists to explore new supply chain models and solutions for an increasingly international market.
Groupe CAT was represented by Antoine Ritz (Chief Operating Officer), Edoardo Cumino (Commercial Director), and Chen Zheng (Corporate Account Manager) underlining a clear conviction: smart logistics is now a decisive driver of competitiveness in the automotive industry.
A European Network Connecting International Markets
Groupe CAT’s international footprint is a core strength, built to handle large-scale automotive flows across Europe and beyond. The network includes:
- +6 300CAT employees
- 16countries
- 11ports of entry
- 15factories
- 435Kstorage spaces
- 71compounds
To meet the international flow requirements of the automotive industry, this infrastructure is backed by a multimodal strategy that blends road, rail and short sea shipping — strengthening supply chain resilience while optimizing flows and allowing Groupe CAT to coordinate operations flexibly around each customer’s specific requirements.
Rail plays a particularly strategic role: the group operates a fleet of 2,118 wagons across a network of 81 weekly trains serving 7 major vehicle manufacturers. In 2025, Groupe CAT further expanded this capability by ordering 100 new flex TAL wagons.
Strengthening Industry Relationships
Beyond showcasing its capabilities, Shanghai gave Groupe CAT the opportunity to deepen relationships with partners and international mobility stakeholders. Conferences and direct discussions with vehicle manufacturers offer valuable insight into market shifts and emerging logistics needs.
This close, collaborative relationship with customers — built around their volumes, locations, constraints and ambitions — is what drives Groupe CAT’s ability to innovate and stay ahead of change in the automotive supply chain.
Our Approach: Anticipate, Adapt, Orchestrate
As automotive markets grow more complex, logistics plays an increasingly central role in vehicle manufacturers’ overall performance. Groupe CAT’s smart logistics model rests on three principles:
01
Anticipate
market and supply chain changes
02
Adapt
solutions to evolving customer needs
03
Orchestrate
flows across a connected network
Backed by a robust infrastructure, multimodal expertise, and experienced teams, Groupe CAT’s participation in the Automotive Logistics International Conference 2026 reflects our ongoing commitment: developing smart, connected logistics solutions built for the realities of today’s global automotive industry — and the challenges of tomorrow.
Smart logistics, powered by a strong and unique European transport network: this is how Groupe CAT partners with the automotive industry to build the supply chain of the future.
